Another challenging scan. All the images had to taken with the objects on their side. This was not ideal as standing up their shape presents an easy way to scan and maneuver around the object. The museum did not have the Plinths ready to scan these while standing up. On the positive side, the scan stitching on both sides was straightforward with RealtiyCapture, and these turned out great. Did I need so many scale bars... No probably not. :D

‘My cousin’s brother used to make birds; Roy’s dad used to make the Jabiru bird. Then Harold got the idea of doing cockatoo. The Black Cockatoo plays an important role in Tiwi ceremony … Harold has to look at the tree first to see if it’s strong enough [for carving] – you can tell when that stringy bark peels off. Then you can see if it’s right to cut it and do carving.’
